100 Things I Love | Studio M

I got the idea for this from Brian Tippett's book, "Get Creative With Type; Fun typography ideas and tips for scrapbooking".  This is the first time I remember scrapbooking a landscape 8.5 x 11 page.

This is part of my "out of the box" thinking for scrapbooking in the future.  My new approach is Library of Memories oriented, but involves having a D Ring 12x12 album and various sizes of pages inside in any orientation, including 4x6, 5x11, 8.5x11, 11x8.5, 6x6, 8x8, 8.5x8.5, 9x9, 12x12.

The album when completed will look something like this:

I'm pretty excited about the options for doing this and the idea that it doesn't have to be chronological or even full of scrapped pages (full size photos are ok, as is kids artwork).  The only snag right now is the fact that I am having difficulty finding anyone that carries D ring albums as standard and the dilemma of what to do with my existing post bound albums (maybe ebay?).  Ideas, thoughts and comments are always welcome.

Moppetscloset | Studio M

I came across this Etsy retailer Moppetscloset while looking for a washer style necklace (as per Ali Edward) but unlike Ali, I wanted something in yellow gold tones.

Christi of Moppetscloset only had silver washer jewellry in her store but I noticed that several of her other pieces were in gold (gold filled) so I asked her whether she could custom make what I wanted.  After conversing with her about various options she showed me her personal piece (above) and I'm so excited to tell you that I'm getting one just the same with all our names.  The cost was amazingly cheap at $44 US shipped (that's $59 CDN these days - our dollar isn't doing so well).

So head on over to Christi's store and pick out something for youself (just don't get one the same as me!).

And if (like me) you're wondering what gold-filled is:
"Gold Filled: Gold filled is an actual layer of gold-pressure bonded to another metal. Gold filled is not to be confused with gold plating as filled literally has 100% more gold than gold plating. Gold filled is much more valuable and tarnish resistant. It does not flake off, rub off or turn colors. As a matter of fact, anyone who can wear gold can wear gold filled without worries of any allergic reaction to the jewelry. Gold filled jewelry is an economical alternative to solid gold!"

I'm drowning

It seems like every year C has to come up with some scheme to rennovate the house - or sell it and build another one.

When we bought this house 5 years ago, I thought it was our Forever Home. Since then we haven't even unpacked because we've tried to buy/build three times unsuccessfully and have done two large rennovations (basement finishing, create 2nd bedroom on main floor (by stealing 1/2 the kitchen).

Now we have rennovation #3, the create an open space and finish a room for the live-in nanny rennovation designed to make the main living area more like a great room concept and have somewhere to put the nanny when she moves in. Subsequently there is stuff everywhere! My neatly organized family room with it's craft area looks like a storage unit and there is a thin layer of drywall dust on everything.

I am beginning to feel like I am drowing because I can't get out from under all this stuff. My creativity level is way down because I can't access anything to express myself (so why bother). This morning I stumbled across this article: http://www.scrapgirls.com/ro_scrapbooking_office_scrapbooking_storage.htm

What's interesting is that this is the way I've been going, i.e. digital. My office area is part of that storage unit so I can't really get into it to print anything but my laptop allows me to work remotely from upstairs or wherever I want. I guess I have just realized that I need to really downsize my stuff. I don't have a lot of stuff by most scrapbookers standards but I'm displaying some of those symptoms, the hoarding, the less output with more product. So I've decided I'm going to bite the bullet and give stuff away for free on Castanet.net or take it down to a women's shelter or any other place you might suggest. More to follow....
