The New York Times has released all of its 11 million public domain articles from 1851-1980 in PDF image based format on its website NYTimes.com. These articles are available free of charge in an effort to eliminate their TimeSelect subscription service.

These articles are of great value to the genealogical researcher, both for genealogical information as well as providing a valuable social history to enhance your family history.

To access the archive, visit http://www.nytimes.com/ and in the search area (top center of page) enter your search term and select NYT Archive 1851-1980 and then click the Search button. Your search results will be shown on the next screen.
